I really love looking at photographs of people doing yoga, especially some of the photographs from the yoga anywhere blog… I love when people do headstands in the subway, or do a little crow pose on a boulder in a canyon. Completely cool, and totally inspiring (of course, the thing is getting our yoga-mind into the world, as well as our yoga poses.)

But! Sometimes I get really sad about how all the yoga pictures seem to be these crazy thin chickas or some insanely MUSCLES! men. What about the rest of us? The people whose hamstrings & structure are probably going to mean that they never can touch the floor in uttanasan? Or the curvaceous women who can still rock out arm balances? (God, there was this gorgeous girl at the Anusara Grand Gathering who rocked out vasisthasana like nobody’s business and was probably 50+ pounds heavier than me… I was like, you’e my hero! /sidenote) Or the people who are excited over feeling what it means to have their sacrum level still in pigeon?

I’ve been feeling like this for a while, so I think I may want to start a group blog, real people do yoga, about yoga for the rest of us, whether it’s at home or at class or out in the world. Short little insights that people have from their classes, from their home practice, and want to share, perhaps. And, surely, picture-heavy, if people will send them in… So, it’s not built up much, but I did reserve the name: realpeopleyoga.tumblr.com
